Concrete cast directly into formwork on site is called in situ concrete. Often structures such as basement floors, foundations etc. are cast on site, but there are also project designs where it is advantageous to carry out /cast other structural sections on site. When carrying out renovations or building extensions it can often be an advantage to choose in situ concrete, as formwork can be adapted to individual and existing structures. There are several advantages when using in situ concrete. One of these is durability. Concrete is a very durable material with great strength and is very resistant to wear and tear and weather conditions. Also when it comes to noise level conditions and fire resistant properties, concrete is a good choice. Another advantage when using in situ concrete is the large degree of freedom it gives with the design of the structures. The use of in situ concrete increases the opportunity for unique and flexible solutions in individually designed structures where both the owner, architect and engineer set high stipulations to both aesthetics and function. Concrete is furthermore an environmentally friendly and sustainable product which can be recycled and is almost CO2-neutral.
